He stands on the banks of the river, his eyes fixated on the bridge ahead—the bridge he almost jumped from nights before.
It was the same bridge his father leaped to his death from twenty years prior.
Life had them both by the necks and refused to let go.
Darrell was lucky. A passerby saw his contemplation in the dark and spoke words of life to bring him back to safety. If only someone had cared enough about his father to talk him off the ledge.
Now, observing what could’ve been, Darrell knows it’s time to do life differently.
