Peter stands behind the podium and surveys every person in the room.
“Two years ago, I didn’t think I would be standing here today.” He rolls a bronze coin between his thumb, index and middle fingers. “To be honest, I didn’t want to be. I wanted to keep partying until tomorrow never came. But deep down, I knew my life was worth more than Vodka and lines of coke.”
Nervous movement is in the crowd.
“As I stand here today, you are worth more than that too.”
A tear falls. “Every day is a gift I want to keep unwrapping.”
