When I opened the doors of my vintage clothing store, I didn’t foresee closing them four years later. But it’s official, in less than thirty days, my business will be no more.
The idea sparked for this store a week after my mother’s funeral. As my sister and I went through her belongings, we discovered a plethora of clothes spanning several decades in the attic. All kinds of patterns, fabrics, colors, designs, textures. Selling pieces of history would be like keeping pieces of her alive.
Tacking signs around the store, in this moment, feels like she’s dying all over again.
