He longed to work for The New York Times. To see his name in the bylines would be a dream come true. Horace wrote for his high school newspaper, then for the campus paper in college. The Times was a sure shot, so he thought.
Three years of pitching editors and he was no closer to a foot in the door. Writing had come easy for him all before. Why now was it so difficult to catch a break?
One way or another, Horace’s name will be in the bylines.
Today, he will make sure of it.
